Our Products...
Project Peranakan has rolled out several products, targeted at students aged 8 to 14. Our products include a virtual tour of Joo Chiat, worksheets for students and brochures to promote awareness of the wonders of the Peranakan culture. Here are our products:
A Dictionary of the Peranakan Language
Whilst reading about the Peranakans, many people would have difficulty understanding the language that they use, which is a mixture of English, Chinese and Malay. In some cases, there are other languages used. Their wide variety of dishes are all unique and have names too. Memorising them all can be daunting (unless you are a Peranakan!)
We made this dictionary as a guide to the Peranakan language and may not necessarily contain all the words spoken by Peranakans of the past.

Tour of a Peranakan House
In Emily of Emerald Hill, Emily Gan, the main character, lives in a Peranakan house on Emerald Hill. We have recreated a Peranakan house in the 1930s. The 1930s were a time of opulence for the Peranakans. It was when Peranakans enjoyed grand parties, extravagant clothing and excellent food, as seen in the book.
We have recreated the house based on books, stories from interviewed Peranakans and pictures of Peranakan houses and antiques.

Self-guided Tours
Take a stroll throught Joo Chiat, the part of Singapore where Pernakans of the past took residence. It is easy to get lost in Joo Chiat if you are unfamiliar with the place. We have made a self-guided tour to overcome this problem by specifically stating the landmarks in that area. We would also discuss the history of the buildings and antiques in detail as you walk.
It is available in both audio and printable versions.

Test your knowledge on the Peranakan culture by doing the worksheet! Answers are found in the website, so pay attention! Quizzes are available in three different difficulty levels, which can be unlocked after you pass the quiz in a lower difficulty level. A password would then be given
